Framework for Climate Mitigation

The Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan sets a framework for addressing the causes of climate change through actions that will reduce local sources of greenhouse gas emissions. This framework draws from the specific strategies and actions that emerged as priorities throughout the plan development.

Green our Grid

The following pages walk through specific strategies for each emissions sector, as well as actions that were prioritized and assessed for their ability to achieve our climate mitigation and regional goals. Local governments will need to use a mix of approaches to implement these strategies, including:

  • Advocating for climate action at the state and federal level.

  • Working together regionally to develop efficient solutions.

  • Making changes to regulations and internal programs.

  • Supporting other partners in the community (public and private) as they take climate action.
